4MYPLANET SPONSORSHIP, A PROJECT AT THE HEART OF CURRENT CLIMATE ISSUES

The Jacques Martel foundation joins the association 4myplanet in its fight to save and protect the seabed.
Created in 2009 by Alexia Barrier, 4myplanet is committed to the protection of the seabed by collecting numerous scientific data. It also works to educate young people by creating “4myplanet kids” in partnership with several schools in the Alpes-Maritimes. This program offers an educational kit, sea outings and activities for schoolchildren on the protection of the oceans.

Le mécénat 4MYPLANET, un projet au cœur des enjeux climatiques actuels, Fonds Jacques MartelAlexia Barrier

Originally from the Alpes-Maritimes, Alexia Barrier has been sailing since she was very young. In 2009, she became the first woman to attempt a solo circumnavigation of the globe for the benefit of science. After sailing more than 20,000 miles, she brought back more than one million datas about see water. In 2021, she participated with her Imoca “Le Pingouin” in the 2020 edition of the Vendée Globe and finished 24th in this internationally renowned around the world race.

The Jacques Martel foundation’s commitment

One of the four commitments of the Fund is related to nature and specifically to the preservation of the resources of the seas and oceans.

Thus, for the second consecutive year, the Fund Jacques Martel is committed to the 4myplanet association.

The first year, the Fund financed a new booklet for an educational kit on the aquatic plant world, and in particular the posidonia, an endemic plant of the Mediterranean Sea. This kit had been completed by animations in local schools.

This year again, we are going to meet the public by co-hosting an educational stand during the event “Les Voiles d’Antibes”. This event gathers young and old around a common passion: sailing and, beyond, the sea. The stand will allow people to learn while having fun with a life-size game of goose and workshops on the theme of seaweed.

From May 31 to June 4, 2023 in Antibes.
