A day of exchange and generosity in aid of local heritage!

23 September 2024 | Our actions

Curiosity, exchanges and generosity were at the heart of the festive day on September 21th that the Jacques Martel Foundation organised in Saint-Cézaire-sur-Siagne in collaboration with the local authority.

As a reminder, the aim of the day was to launch a campaign to raise funds for the restoration of Saint-Césaire church, and in particular the church’s stained-glass windows.

This 18th-century church is the heart of the village, and many of you came to show your attachment to this monument.

The day was also an opportunity for the residents of Saint-Cézaire-sur-Siagne and the surrounding area to (re)discover the heritage that surrounds them. Not only the church, but also the wash-house, the fountain and the orientation table were at the heart of a life-size heritage treasure hunt.

A tour of the church by the architects in charge of the works explained the surveys currently being carried out in the church, which have revealed parts of the historic frescoes beneath the most recent coat of paint.

Heritage is everyone’s responsibility, and the Jacques Martel Foundation is particularly committed to promoting the heritage and culture that surround us. That’s why we felt so strongly about supporting the restoration of the church’s historic stained-glass windows. That’s why the Jacques Martel Foundation has undertaken to double all donations collected*!

The launch of this campaign has been very well received and, on behalf of the Jacques Martel Foundation and of the local authority, we would like to extend our sincere thanks to the first donors.

The campaign will continue until work begins in 2025 => Appel aux dons – Eglise Saint-Césaire

This restoration cannot be done without you, without your support, whether financial or by spreading this initiative among your friends and family!

We would like to thank you in advance for your support.

We would also like to thank all the people who helped to make this day such a success.
