The principle of “participatory opera”, offered for the 3rd consecutive time by the Opéra de Nice, is a human and artistic adventure that puts children at the heart of the project!
Without them, this project would not be possible; it’s also a way of showing that their role is fundamental in building tomorrow’s society and that it’s our duty to support them and give them the right tools!
We think that this collaboration with the Opéra de Nice is a fantastic tool.
For a year and a half, 150 young people from Nice will spend 3 hours of their school time getting to know an artistic environment that many of them consider inaccessible, or not for them…
They will meet the 100 professions involved in opera and learn to dance, sing, slam… and reveal their talents, which sometimes go unnoticed.
Magali Thomas (director) and Sergio Monterisi (music composer) wanted a project that would enable young people to talk about themselves and their neighbourhoods.
Whether this ‘Un monde ensemble’ project is considered a rock opera, an urban opera or a street opera, what will remain above all is that it is a unifying project that will have brought together worlds that don’t usually meet. The philosophy followed by the current Director of the Opera de Nice, that we share.
It was said over and over again throughout the presentation of ‘Un Monde ensemble’: children have to dream big and work hard to achieve their dreams.
The Jacques Martel Foundation fully supports this magnificent project and is proud to do so.
