We liked the project so much last year that we did it again! And ‘Des Enfants et Des Arbres’ has become an association partner of the Jacques Martel Foundation.
So this year, we went to La Motte to lend a hand to the Château des Demoiselles wine estate’s team.
The program includes the planting of 2 hedgerows (totalling 726 metres) crossing a 10-hectares parcel of vines and the creation of an aromatic orchard with a conservation section and an experimental one.
The objectives are numerous. Planting hedges allows better infiltration (by the roots) and prevents the soil from gullying during rainy periods. The wide range of species planted (about 15) also encourages the development of biodiversity.
Agroforestry is a real challenge for the years to come and fits in perfectly with the objective of supporting healthy, sustainable food.
Well done to the schoolchildren of La Motte who were extremely efficient and, above all, had big smiles on their faces throughout the day, aware of what was going on beneath their feet and their shovels.
Teaming up with the living is the association’s credo, and the Jacques Martel Foundation is proud to be part of the team.
