‘Peer violence prevents children from growing up peacefully and expressing their full physical, psychological, intellectual and social potential.’
This statement, found on the website of the Marion la Main Tendue association, is in line with the values of the Jacques Martel Foundation.
The association’s mission is to prevent, take action against and combat bullying at school and among peers, which is a major obstacle to children’s development and success.
It is therefore with great enthusiasm and hope that the Jacques Martel Foundation announces its first partnership with the Marion la main tendue association, as part of its mission to support education, and more specifically with the aim of combating school dropout.
Successive surveys show the extent to which mental wellbeing among secondary school pupils has deteriorated in recent years.
▶️ The website santepubliquefrance.fr reports that more than half of secondary school pupils report symptoms such as difficulty sleeping, nervousness or irritability, which are signs of persistent ill-being.
▶️ 21% of them report feeling lonely, which is a factor in psychological vulnerability.
These are all warning signs that can lead to students dropping out of school.
Our recent meeting with the association convinced us of the harm caused by silence around these issues and how important it is to take action to support children and school staff.
The partnership that has just been signed focuses specifically on combating bullying and cyberbullying, two issues with serious consequences for both children and the adults around them.
This ambitious project, initiated by the Cannes Foundation as part of its CARA program, includes workshops and meetings designed to raise awareness among pupils and teaching staff in order to prevent bullying and school dropout. This systemic approach will benefit the entire educational community in Cannes’ primary and secondary schools.
By partnering with Marion la Main Tendue, the Jacques Martel Foundation reaffirms its belief that awareness, listening and commitment are essential levers for enabling every child to grow, learn and develop in a safer and more humane school environment.
