Whether you’re a parent or not, it’s hard to ignore this social issue: what impact do screens have on children and teenagers?
The Association “Lève les yeux” has an opinion on this question, and here it is: “screen time has exploded with the arrival of smartphones, whose applications are increasingly addictive. The health, educational, democratic environmental and human consequences are immense; it is urgent to raise our eyes.
As part of its mission to encourage the education of young people, the Jacques Martel Foundation wanted to work on the issue of school drop-out.
Numerous studies point to the risk of dropping out of school through excessive use of screens. That’s why we’re delighted to support this association, which has decided to get children to take their eyes off the screens, by raising their awareness of the risks and offering them alternatives through participatory workshops.
Thanks to this collaboration, we hope to reach
– 8 classes, i.e. around 240 young people in the Alpes Maritimes, where schools have so far had little exposure to awareness-raising about overexposure to screens.
– 1 group from a social centre, i.e. around 15 more young people
– 1 group of parents at a dedicated workshop
The hoped-for impact is clear: raising awareness of the effects of overexposure to screens and encouraging participants to disconnect!
It’s a long-term project and we’ll be talking about it again.
In the meantime, don’t hesitate to visit the Lève les yeux website to follow their activities.
