In Saint-Cézaire-sur-Siagne, the 24h des Tuves is much more than just a sporting challenge. For 24 hours, runners, walkers, families, local residents, shops and volunteers come together with a shared goal: to advance the fight against glioblastoma.
A local initiative based on solidarity that the Jacques Martel Foundation has chosen to support for the third year running.
Behind this venture is Grégory Lara, a native of the village and a keen trail runner and hiker:
“The original idea was to share this passion with the participants and introduce them to the trails of the Siagne Valley and the wonderful spots along the river. With the rise of various trail runs, we also wanted to offer a more unconventional format, based on conviviality and sharing.”
This year, for the 3rd edition, the race will start on Friday 2 October at 5 pm, marking the start of 24 hours of action.
There’s no focus on timing or on performance at any cost. Everyone takes part at their own pace, with the same ingredients that have made the event such a success since its inception: an exceptional route, a great atmosphere, a sense of camaraderie and, above all, a cause that brings people together: raising awareness of glioblastoma and helping to advance the fight against this disease.
All the donations raised will be donated to the association Des Étoiles dans la Mer, which supports research against glioblastoma and provides support to patients and their loved ones throughout the course of the illness.
€7,400 was raised during the first event, followed by €12,000 last year. What if we went even further this year?
Saint-Cézaire-sur-Siagne plays a vital role in this venture. It is here that Grégory Lara grew up and where his family still lives. And it is the whole local community that, year after year, steps up to the plate: residents, local businesses and partners, volunteers and the local council all play their part in keeping this spirit of solidarity alive.
The Jacques Martel Foundation will donate €3 per ascent, up to a maximum of 500 ascents. Are you ready to take on the challenge?
